Condition Guide

Every item we sell is carefully inspected and graded using the Japanese vintage grading system. This guide explains what each grade means so you can shop with confidence.

Our Grading Scale

N

NNew Product

Brand new product with original packaging and tags. Never used, displayed, or handled beyond inspection.

S

SUnused

Unused product that may have been stored or displayed but never worn. May show very faint storage marks but is otherwise pristine.

A

AAlmost No Damage

Product with almost no damage and very minimal signs of use. Upon close inspection, slight marks may be visible, but the item presents beautifully.

B

BSome Feeling of Use

Product with some feeling of use and minor wear visible upon inspection. Hardware may show light scratches, leather may have subtle patina. This is the most common grade for well-maintained vintage pieces.

C

CUsable with Some Damage

The product has usability but with noticeable damage. May include visible scratches, stains, worn corners, or hardware tarnish. All damage is photographed and disclosed in the listing.

What We Evaluate

Each item is assessed across six key areas. Every detail is photographed and disclosed in the listing.

Exterior Material

Leather condition, colour consistency, scratches, stains, and patina

Hardware

Zippers, clasps, chains, locks — functionality, tarnish, and scratches

Structure & Shape

Whether the bag holds its original shape or shows softening/sagging

Interior

Lining condition, pockets, pen marks, odour, and general cleanliness

Edges & Corners

Wear on piping, corners, and stitching — common high-wear areas

Handles & Straps

Darkening, cracking, stretching, and overall handle condition

How We Photograph

We photograph every item in natural daylight from multiple angles. Close-up shots highlight any wear, scratches, or imperfections so you can see exactly what you're getting. If something isn't visible in the photos, we describe it in the listing text.
